Joseph could not fit in, he never really did The town didn’t like that he was an oddly shaped kid He was easy to notice everywhere he walked Whenever people saw him, they shook their heads and balked The world was a puzzle, and he was just a piece Because he didn’t fit, he was laughed at, mocked, and teased While others played indoors Joseph relished the world outside Daydreaming of monsters and adventures far and wide But to the other kids, those things weren’t fun They just wanted to be like everyone Children refused to play with him, Joseph did not know why He tried his best to fit in, on lonely nights he’d cry The more that Joseph tried to please, the more he felt unease He knew in his heart that he was not being true But he longed to fit in so badly, he didn’t know what to do Joseph recalled tales about mysterious places afar How by going on an adventure you might discover who you are Where monsters lurked and creatures teemed That’s where he always dreamed to be He hoped one day to return to this town And not be seen simply as a clown So others could finally notice him not for looking outrageous He hoped that he could return and be known as courageous ...
